The oil has a rich and unique history. Dating back to the early 1500′s, this oil was first reported by an explorer named Leo Aficanus. They obtained a sample and took it back to Amsterdam where Lady Beaufort cultivated this tree around the beginning of 1700′s.
It mainly thrives in the southern region of Morocco. In fact it grows in the desert part of the region. Due to the harsh climate, over time the tree has adapted its root system to go deep, thus allowing it to survive. Due to it geo graphic location, this oil is quite rare.
The oil originates from the fruit of the argan tree or what some call the kernels. It is used in both the cosmetic and culinary industries. Up until recently, the oil was not well known in North America. This oil is now exported around the globe.

Press Extraction
Due to a more modern approach to obtaining this oil, it will actually keep for 12 to 18 months. As well, the extraction process is much quicker today, than in the past. What once took many hours to obtain this oil, it can now be acquired in about 2 hours for 1 litre of oil.
